Make a batch, then sell or age the bottle
To make wine in Probably Stolen, load a Wine Bottle with BloomBerry fruit and 750 ml of water, add yeast if available, and start fermentation. Improve your batches through fruit selection, water quality and yeast, then sell the finished bottle or put it into a powered Wine Aging Rack.
Unlock wine supplies and prepare your tools
Winemaking unlocks through the wine making kit on Joe Wild’s network. Wine bottles and yeast start appearing in trades after that unlock. Prepare a Wine Bottle, BloomBerry fruit, water and a magnifying glass, with your chosen yeast ready before assembling the batch.
In the older playtest, the retired winemaker visited on Friday with berries and wine supplies. Random scavenger trades could provide bottles, and the supplier at the end of the week also carried bottles. Treat that as an older playtest schedule, and plan purchases around the stock actually offered in your game.
Start and finish a wine batch
- Let the bottle’s fermentation countdown finish before trying to sell the wine or move it into a powered Wine Aging Rack. Finishing this stage gives you the fermented bottle needed for the next decision.
Choose water and yeast for the result you want
Water below Basewater penalizes the result. High-Quality Water and Pure Water provide the same quality bonus in the demo. If you already have High-Quality Water available, using Pure Water does not add a further wine-quality bonus.
Yeast is a sensible default when you want a bottle worth selling. Older playtest batches made without it could be ruined, while yeast also shortened fermentation. Choose it before starting the batch, then use the bottle’s countdown to plan when your stock will be ready.
| Yeast option | Demo fermentation time |
|---|---|
| No added yeast | Four days through wild fermentation. |
| Standard yeast | Two days of fermentation. |
| Super Yeast | One day of fermentation. |
The Yeast Bioreactor offers a reusable alternative to yeast packets. In the older playtest, it worked like standard yeast and returned immediately after fermentation started. That allowed the same bioreactor to start another bottle without waiting for the previous batch to finish.
Age finished bottles in the Wine Aging Rack
Put finished wine into a powered Wine Aging Rack to advance its aging overnight. The rack rejects counterfeit wine, so use a genuine finished bottle. Wait for the Wine Bottle’s fermentation countdown to finish before moving the result into the rack.
The older playtest showed wine gaining value overnight both outside and inside the aging machine. Compare your bottle’s displayed value over time instead of budgeting around a fixed nightly increase. Keep aging stock while you can comfortably cover supplies and rent, and sell when the cash would be more useful.
Match finished wine to a buyer
In the older playtest, sellable wine carried Substance and Alcohol tags, while Reserve and Master Vintage also counted as Luxury items. Check the tags on your finished bottle before choosing what to offer a customer. Match the customer’s request and budget rather than assuming every visitor can buy an expensive aged bottle.
Use the bottle’s current displayed value to decide whether an offer suits you. Sell when the proceeds help you restock or cover rent, and keep bottles when you can afford to wait. A longer aging plan should leave enough cash available to keep the rest of your shop running.
Keep bottled wine intact and separate demo changes
Leave finished wine in its Wine Bottle when you intend to sell or age it. In the demo, pouring wine into a liquid container produces Wine Extract and changes the liquid’s color. Keep that behavior in mind when following older playtest advice about pouring out or transferring wine.
The full release is planned for October 28, 2026, with Vending Machines announced to sell goods overnight after closing. Those are full-game additions, separate from the demo’s wine procedure. For your demo batches, finish fermentation, preserve the bottle and choose between a customer sale and powered rack aging.
